Digitisation of Collections

Comprehensive digitisation of museum and private collections — from individual artworks to large, structured bodies of material. All projects are carried out with strict technical consistency, repeatable results and full compliance with archival requirements.

Artworks Photography

Precise photographic reproductions created for digital archives, printed publications and research use. Colour, lighting and scale are carefully controlled in accordance with the intended application of each image.

Conservation Documentation

Photography supporting conservation and research processes — including overall views, detailed images, surface structures and technological features of objects, produced in accordance with established documentation principles.

Experience and Professional Practice

I am an art historian and a photographer specialising in artworks and museum objects. Since 2016, I have been working with photography as a documentary tool for cultural heritage, used in archives, research, publications and exhibitions.

Each project begins with a careful analysis of the purpose the photography is intended to serve, as well as the conditions under which the images will subsequently function — whether archival, research-based, editorial or exhibition-related. I approach the photography of artworks and museum objects as a form of documentation designed for long-term value, reliability and durability.

My work is carried out in accordance with established principles of museum and conservation documentation, including the standards set by the Polish National Institute of Museums. I undertake projects involving both individual objects and extensive collections that require technical consistency, repeatable results and precise process management.

I have extensive experience in the digitisation of museum and private collections, encompassing hundreds of thousands of digitised objects — ranging from paintings, prints and sculpture to decorative arts, archival materials and artefacts with complex material structures.

The photographs I produce have been used in scholarly books and printed catalogues, as well as as integral components of permanent and temporary exhibitions. Each project is approached individually, with careful consideration of the object’s character and institutional requirements, and with particular attention paid to technical precision, the safety of entrusted collections and adherence to agreed project timelines.

Case study

Selected documentation projects representing a range of object types and technical challenges.

Tadeusz Kulisiewicz, Children with a Lamb

Photographic documentation produced for archival purposes and for subsequent editorial and exhibition use. The project comprised a complete documentation of the object, including overall views with the frame as well as a set of detailed images relevant to attribution, production technique and condition assessment.

The work was carried out under controlled lighting conditions, ensuring colour and tonal consistency across all views. The photographic material was prepared to support both long-term digital archiving and use in printed publications.

Silver Balsamarium

Photographic documentation of a three-dimensional object produced for archival purposes, conservation analysis and subsequent editorial and exhibition use. The project involved a complete documentation of the object’s spatial form, including a sequence of views taken around the vertical axis, in accordance with established principles for documenting three-dimensional heritage objects.

The set of eight corresponding views allows for a clear assessment of the object’s form, proportions and condition from all sides, and enables comparative analysis without the need for direct physical access to the artefact. The documentation is supplemented by photographs of hallmarks and details relevant to attribution and production technology.

The work was carried out under controlled lighting conditions, taking into account the specific properties of metallic surfaces and their response to light. The photographic material was prepared to support long-term digital archiving as well as use in printed publications.

Olga Boznańska, Anemones

Photographic documentation of a painting produced for archival purposes and for subsequent research and editorial use. The project included images of both the recto and verso of the painting, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of the object as a material artefact rather than solely as a painted surface.

A key aspect of the work was the documentation of the paint layer without disruptive surface reflections. The lighting was carefully configured to render the texture of the paint clearly while eliminating specular highlights, which represent one of the primary technical challenges in the photographic documentation of oil paintings. The project also included standard documentary views of the signature and the reverse of the painting.

Particular attention was paid to colour accuracy, which is essential for archival purposes and for the subsequent use of the material in printed publications. The entire project was carried out under controlled lighting conditions, ensuring colour and tonal consistency across all images.
